Spring 2014 Flooring Trends
This year’s spring flooring trends are new and exciting!
Bamboo and cork are becoming a larger trend on the East Coast and popping up design magazines and websites. Many styles come in both solid and engineered formats. Bamboo & Cork are both eco-friendly, extremely durably and distinctive in beauty. Both are great throughout your whole home but especially great for use in a kitchen.
Another hard surface floor choice is Tile. In particular, large format tile is extremely popular. Tile manufacturers like Daltile, are making gorgeous styles in a variety of sizes like 4×36, 6×36, & 24×24. Daltile has made a large variety of styles for wood-looks & natural stone looks in ceramic or porcelain tile. We’ve seen a surge in mixing tile sizes to truly make a unique look in the home.
Now let’s take a look at color. Color is the most important factor when choosing your flooring, lighting fixtures, vanities and soft goods for the space. Color should speak to you and make you feel at home. These are the latest trends for color.
The absolute perfect gray is comparable to the color of the clouds just before it rains. Warmer than it is cool, gray is rarely boring. Suffice it to say, gray will stay.
Classic taupe is the stepping-stone between the gray trend and its predecessor, the chocolate brown trend. When the taupe trend is translated into furniture, it offers the very popular reclaimed look.
